Phone Maker Apple names John Ternus as next CEO

Apple announced a major leadership transition on Monday, naming hardware chief John Ternus as its next CEO.

Ternus succeeds Tim Cook, who has led the tech giant since 2011 and will now transition to the role of executive chairman.

Ternus joined Apple in 2001 and is widely credited with revitalizing the Mac lineup and overseeing critical hardware engineering.

Industry analysts suggest Ternus will bring “fresh energy” to the company as it navigates a shifting tech landscape. In a related move, Apple promoted silicon mastermind Johny Srouji to the position of chief hardware officer.
