In a bold move to bridge the gap between blockchain and daily life, Lisk has announced a strategic partnership with a major Asian telecommunications provider, unlocking access to a staggering 160 million users. The goal? To bring Ethereum-compatible decentralized applications (dApps) directly into the hands of everyday mobile users — no crypto knowledge required.
The Partnership
While the telco partner has not yet been officially named, insiders suggest it’s one of the region’s top players, with infrastructure spanning mobile, internet, and payment services. Through this collaboration, Lisk plans to embed dApp functionality directly into the telco’s existing app ecosystem — effectively removing the onboarding friction that has long plagued Web3 adoption.

Ethereum Compatibility: The Big Shift
Lisk, originally built on its own sidechain-based architecture, recently announced its transition to an Ethereum Layer 2 solution using Optimism’s OP Stack. This makes it easier for developers to port Ethereum dApps to Lisk, or build new ones with instant scalability and low fees — all while accessing Ethereum’s liquidity and tooling.
The telco deal marks the first major test of this new interoperability. By integrating Ethereum-compatible dApps directly into consumer-facing apps, Lisk is positioning itself as a gateway to mainstream Ethereum adoption in Asia.
