Ripple has announced a new partnership with Portuguese currency exchange provider Unicâmbio to support instant international payments between Portugal and Brazil. The service leverages Ripple’s payment platform, which uses digital assets to facilitate faster and cheaper cross-border transactions.
Unicâmbio’s corporate clients can now move funds and settle payments within minutes, marking Ripple’s first entry into the Portuguese market.
“Portugal has developed a thriving crypto ecosystem, so we are delighted to open up our payments solution to partners there,” said Cassie Craddock, Managing Director of UK & Europe at Ripple.
“By connecting our payment networks in Portugal and Brazil, we’re facilitating faster, more cost-effective cross-border payments, while strengthening the economic bridge between these two major markets.”
Ripple’s payment system is powered by the XRP Ledger, enabling users to send and receive multiple currencies, including fiat money and cryptocurrencies, through a network of financial institutions using the XRP token.
This partnership highlights Ripple’s commitment to expanding its global footprint and improving the efficiency of cross-border financial transactions.
