Nation’s First Hydrogen Truck Flagged Off in Raipur

In a landmark step towards green energy and sustainable transportation, India’s first hydrogen-powered heavy-duty truck was officially rolled out on public roads. The vehicle was flagged off by Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai in Raipur, marking a significant milestone in the country’s clean mobility journey.

This revolutionary truck, designed for long-haul freight, is equipped with a hydrogen fuel cell system and has been developed under the joint initiative of NTPC (National Thermal Power Corporation) and Adani Natural Resources.

Speaking at the launch, Chief Minister Sai described the truck as a “technological breakthrough” and emphasized its potential to reduce carbon emissions across industrial zones. “This green innovation not only supports our environmental commitments but also sets a benchmark for future logistics. Our government is committed to supporting such clean-energy advancements across the state,” he added.

According to technical experts, the truck has a range of up to 200 kilometers on a full hydrogen tank and can carry up to 40 tons of cargo. Its deployment is expected to significantly reduce air pollution and lower fuel consumption in the logistics sector.

The launch is being hailed as a major leap towards ‘clean and green transport’ in India. Adani Enterprises termed the initiative as a milestone in India’s energy transition and a step toward establishing India as a global leader in hydrogen fuel technology.

International experts have also taken note of this innovation, appreciating India’s commitment to green mobility. As hydrogen-powered vehicles gain traction globally, India’s entry into this segment highlights its growing role in climate-conscious transportation.

With this hydrogen truck, India takes a bold stride toward a cleaner, more sustainable transportation future — combining innovation with environmental responsibility.
