DeFi Platform MANTRA Gets Green Light in Dubai, Expanding Web3 Offerings
HONG KONG – Decentralized finance (DeFi) platform MANTRA has obtained a Virtual Asset Service Provider (VASP) license from Dubai’s Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority (VARA), marking a significant milestone in its mission to bridge decentralized and traditional finance.
This regulatory approval allows MANTRA to operate as a virtual asset exchange, provide broker-dealer services, and manage investments within Dubai’s crypto-friendly regulatory framework. The move strengthens MANTRA’s presence in the Middle Eastern market while fueling its global expansion and real-world asset (RWA) tokenization initiatives.
Dubai: A Crypto Regulatory Hub
MANTRA’s CEO, John Patrick Mullin, hailed Dubai as a leader in crypto regulation, calling the approval a “crucial step” in aligning DeFi with traditional finance. “With this license, we can now offer compliant financial products tailored for institutional investors, benefiting from Dubai’s progressive stance on Web3 and digital assets,” Mullin stated.
DeFi Innovation and Future Plans
With regulatory clearance, MANTRA aims to introduce DeFi products that meet both regional and international regulatory standards. “Regulatory compliance is key to building trust with users,” Mullin emphasized. “This license reflects our long-term vision of responsible growth in the digital asset space.”
Recently, MANTRA partnered with UAE-based real estate giant DAMAC Group to bring over $1 billion worth of assets onto blockchain rails. In 2024, the firm also onboarded Google as a primary blockchain validator and joined forces with the tech giant to accelerate RWA development and innovation.
As MANTRA moves forward, its Dubai approval strengthens its position in the DeFi landscape, signaling broader adoption of blockchain technology in institutional finance and tokenized assets.
